Jason Mitchell started his career studying acting at Carnegie Mellon. Shortly after, he moved behind the camera when he joined the Navy as a broadcast journalist shooting all over Asia. After seven years of ascending quickly through the ranks, he left the Navy and moved to San Francisco. He worked as the Director of Production for a streaming media company at the turn of the century and rode the wave of the dotcom bubble. In 2001 he helped form Purebred Productions to focus on narrative cinema.
